The Optimize screen inside each content brief supports two main activities
- Viewing and archiving baseline versions of your page content
- Creating optimized versions of content, leveraging KISS Score insights
The Optimize screen shows a Baseline version on the left, and an Optimized version on the right.
Important! If you are not already familiar with KISS Score, learn this first.
Optimize Screen Tutorial Video
This is a complex screen with many facets to leveraging its power properly. Watching the video is highly advisable.
Creating Baseline Versions
A Baseline content version is created by the system when a URL status is updated to Published. You can save multiple baseline versions and name each of them.
Once a Baseline version is saved, it is a permanent record, and cannot be updated, however you can delete a baseline record version if it is no longer needed.
There are two ways to create a new baseline record:
- CREATE NEW*: This button will cause the mapped URL to be crawled and ingested.
- SAVE AS NEW BASELINE: From the Optimized content version, this button will save the current content and metadata in the Optimized area as a new baseline version.
*Troubleshooting: The technical configuration of some websites do not allow published content to be ingested automatically. If this occurs, you can copy the published content to clipboard and paste that content in the new baseline creation modal.
Creating an Optimized Version
The Optimized content version is used for optimizing content. You can update and save the optimized version, and then archive it as a Baseline record.
There are two ways to populate an Optimized version
- CLONE BASELINE button: This will populate the Optimized area with the Baseline version currently selected in view.
- Copy and paste content from your clipboard. Be sure to click on SAVE OPTIMIZED button on bottom right to save the record.
Copying and Pasting is useful for pre-published draft content. It is also useful if your website has a technical blocker from allowing the automatic baseline content to be ingested correctly.
Workscreen Tips
- Use the floating window feature to move and resize your optimized window to view data as you edit
- Each time you update and save the Optimized version, KISS Score will be rescored
- Consider using the text highlighter when adding/changing content to easily see optimization changes
- Use the KISS score as a helpful reference of how to leverage the diction of your audience’s search behavior, but DO NOT keyword stuff. KISS is best used as a useful directional point.
